in under the wire

Welcome to the post which is likely to get missed in all the hoopla the next post will create. In a sensible world this post would have seen the light of day a week ago, way back when it was new. But....
To keep things short and sweet...Jason is now officially a vicar. He was "vicarized" on Sunday the 29th and will spend the next year working full time at Salem Lutheran Church in Afton MO, conveniently located 1.3 miles from our home. So people refer to him as "Vicar" or "Vicar Broge" or occasionally "Vicar Jason" and of course..."Hey You" is never out of the realm of possibility.

The good vicar preached his first sermon last weekend. It seems to have gone well. At the very least, no one chased him out of the sanctuary so that's a definite improvement.

Salem is a very friendly church and we both anticipate an exciting and wonderful year there.

We leave you now with some pictures of the "vicarizing" for your viewing pleasure.

Jason was asked later by a friend how it "felt" becoming a vicar. "Like someone's hand was on my head" was about the best answer Jason could come up with.

However Charlie, who was present at the service, (way to go Heizners...and you too Kobsy and Kit)
gave sworn testimony that "the heavens were torn open and a voice declared ...this is your vicar, with him I am well pleased."

Jason doesn't know if he would go that far, but truth be told he is really enjoying his vicarage so far.
