A pound…sort of.

Eventful day had by all today. Parker began the day hitting what was an exciting landmark for dad. She had gained a whole pound since her birth! This was the stuff that dreams are made of and in the eyes of her father worth a big ole party. Of course this didn’t last long. After a series of rather large (and much needed) poops Parker had lost twenty grams and by the time she was weighed tonight she was below that one pound mark. It’s amazing how much going to the bathroom changes their weight. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow (or the day after).
Even more exciting than this “granddad” arrived today for a quick visit (Mary Jane’s dad). He flew in today and will be heading out tomorrow night. It’s a short visit so we have strived to make the most of it. We spent the day together at the hospital starring at our beautiful babies. Mostly they just lay there, but…well, that’s what they do. Actually the girls were a little cranky today. Not sure why, but they fussed a lot. Actually there was something very “normal” about this, and as much as I am sure we will go crazy on those fussy days in four or five months, there was a way in which knowing they had the energy to be fussy gave me a little smile today. I know I said it sometime in the past but…celebrate every little victory!!! Even the fussy ones.

Not content to be let that be the end of the day’s excitement we went out to dinner with “granddad” tonight. We experienced the class and fine dining of Chipotle. A fantastic change from hospital food. We then came home and went straight to work on the crib. The second crib arrived a couple of weeks ago but I just haven’t had the time to put it together. Truth be told I didn’t have the time, but I also seriously doubted whether I had the ability as well. I was glad to have Mary Jane’s dad here to help. I am happy to say that I held my own in the building process but I definitely bowed to the wisdom and experience of Grandad. After a couple hours of putting together, taking apart, putting back together, starring, realizing we had it right the first time, we found ourselves the proud owners of two fully functional cribs. This is something that really excites Mary Jane because even though it will still be a couple of months before they are able to come home it is important to Mary Jane that things be ready for them.
Well, sorry, but no pictures tonight. All that work and stuff has made for a late night and what with tomorrow being Sunday, we have to prepare for another big day. Remember tomorrow is not just a day of worship, it’s a work day as well, and…another opportunity to spend the afternoon with the girls!
Blessings.
