"2 Cries" or "Emma gets Her Wish"

Above, Parker snooze life away, all sprawled out, with her fancy new CPAP shoved up her nose (that's a good thing...see below)

Quick post before we call it a night. Just want to answer the question which is likely on every one's mind...how are the girls today?
All things considered, pretty good.
It was discovered that Emma Jane did indeed have a PDA (the whole, hole thing...it was described to be by a nurse as a "doggy door in the heart." The hole is supposed to be there when they are in the womb, it is just supposed to swing shut when they are born ... like after a dog goes through a doggy door. When it doesn't, ibuprofen does a good job of swinging it shut). So she began her first course of Ibuprofen. She will have three days of it, and then they will check to see if it is gone. If not she will likely try another course of ibuprofen before they think about other options.
Parker got off the ventilators last night. She's on something called "CPAP" now. This goes up her nose instead of down her throat. It looks a little worse in the pictures but is actually a better thing. Mary Jane got to her a brief little cry from her. It was such a wee little sound that it took her by surprise and made her wonder where it came from at first, but it was precious.
Meanwhile, back in room 512 Emma Jane got her wish. After three days of pulling her ventilator tube out the doctors and nurses finally agreed with her and took hers out as well (she's on CPAP as well and looks the same way). We arrived right before the procedure and Jason got to help change her diaper before they did the procedure. Yes everyone...not only did dad change a diaper he was the first parent to change a diaper. (I suspect Mary Jane was a bit jealous). Just after they put Emma Jane on CPAP Jason was greeted with a tiny little cry, so while neither parent got to hear both girls make a sound they both went back upstairs happy they had heard something.

All in all we will check today off in the win column.

The third day of life was a good one.

That is SUCH good news!! Praise God for a good day 3!!!! Wow, I miss them a lot even though I just met them. I miss you guys too.

Get sleep. Try to eat well. Know that you are very loved and very covered in prayer. Add the Luikarts' church in Canton and the Keeners' church in Ashland to the list of churches praying for you.

Good night!

What great progress in just three days!! Great to hear that they have "graduated" to CPAP.
